  I was unsure if a place this old and this famous would live up to its name. I'm proud to report it does. The Delmonico rib eye was the beast steak I've had in New York. I got the roast beets as an appetizer...I don't even like beats very much, and it was phenomenal. Chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Also delicious. The best thing about it is that I never felt like they were trying to impress, and yet delivered top notch food. The beets were something new, even trendy coming out of this classic old restaurant. Everyone visiting New York should go here. And get yourself a steak.

  This place is an essential stop if you are coming to Manhattan. The food here is absolutely amazing. Do some research and learn the history of this restaurant before coming, this way you can truly appreciate what you are eating and where you are sitting. The wine list is pages long, so you are better off asking your waiter for a suggested pairing with your meal. Make sure you get dessert as well! The New York style cheesecake is like velvet on your tongue, so freaking good!

  My daughter and I went here one late afternoon. We did make reservations but came in 45 minutes early and they sat us early. Great food, very old style, elegant. No dress code, we were in jean and tennis shoes. Pricey but worth the trip.

  Fantastic food and even better service, this place was perfect for a wonderful private dining experience on Christmas Eve. Very fast service and friendly wait staff (some of which speak more than one language in case there is a tongue that a guest prefers to use more) and the food is legendary. The decor is timeless and the restaurant is family oriented but you will not expect to see any disruptive guests. The people dining here are just as respectful as the waitstaff! Would recommend again and again!
