  After swimming lessons at the nearby Y, I took my nephews to this IHOP for an early dinner, it was a little after 4 pm. We were largely ignored for 20 minutes but the boys amused themselves with my phone.
  A server finally approached our table and looking at the boys declared "guess y'all here for the KIDS EAT FREE'' confused, I looked at him puzzled because I was not aware of their promotion and was not interested in nor planned to take part in that fare since the boys are finicky eaters.
  After the half eaten meal my nephews wanted dessert so we waited for the server to come back as they normally do and ask if all is okay...he never returned...not even to give me the check..I was so hurt for the boys who was looking forward to having their treat for doing great on their tests.
  I went to cashier who was the only visible personnel who called the manager.. when he came I explained the situation. He unapologetically said "we are very short staff ...hold on' then left and went to the back...he returned and said ''your server will be right out" The server did come back to our table and instead of asking he stated "you wanted something else" but by that time we were up and already to leave...I suppose he felt a little bad and said that other servers were out and he was the only one on shift and that he was overwhelmed. I felt a little compassion for him but quickly lost it as I paid the check and left a 20% tip. I vowed that I would never return to that location since we received such shabby treatment and no apologies. Needless to say I was very disappointed and will never go back.
